I found this one at an estate sale in Brevard, NC, tucked in a large set of china that clearly meant something to someone once. This cup and saucer set is Royal Doulton "Gossamer," made in England, with a backstamp that puts it somewhere between 1901 and 1922.
The pattern is soft and pretty, brown and yellow with little flowers scattered in the center of the saucer and inside the cup. The handle has a nice decorated detail, and the saucer edge is gently scalloped with an embossed rim, the kind of small touch you don't see on anything made today.
I checked it over carefully and it's in excellent pre-owned condition, no chips, no cracks, no crazing. Truly lovely for its age.
