I found this set of four at a Ballantree estate sale here in Asheville, a downsizing couple letting go of pieces they'd clearly loved and looked after. Royal Doulton's Sonnet pattern in fine bone china, that crisp white with a wide green band, and delicate arches worked in gray and yellow florals. The kind of detail you don't see much anymore.
Each cup holds about 6 fl. oz., true espresso size. I checked every piece by hand and they're in excellent condition, no chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs. A few of the saucers have very light utensil marks from years of gentle use, nothing stained, just the kind of small trace that tells you these were actually loved and used, not left in a cabinet.
Ready for a new home.
